Overview
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Technical Support Engineer to join our growing Back End Operation steam! Based in the North East of England and with significant travel to customer sites globally, this role will provide support to customers with the set-up of the FlexIC inlay assembly process to enable volume production on various machine sets.
The role will involve managing technical issues at customer sites if problems arise, carrying out fault-finding and root cause analysis in a time-effective manner in order to provide solutions. You will also be responsible for the follow-up engagement work for these external parties, ensuring that an exceptional level of professional support is provided.
We are looking for candidates with demonstrable experience in either automated die attach or reel-to-reel processing, as well as excellent interpersonal skills, given the customer-facing nature of the role.
You will develop in-depth knowledge of the FlexIC inlay assembly processes and machines (you will be provided with full training before customer support activities commence) in particular the TAL
15K tool.
This role will involve significant travel to sites around the world (approximately 50% of the time) so please consider this before applying. We are offering an excellent benefits package for this role, with Visa sponsorship and relocation support available.
Key tasks and responsibilities- Provide Engineering support for both Inlay Assembly and Label Conversion processes using various types of reel-to-reel equipment
- Gain a deep level of understanding so that you can provide rapid review, evaluation and analysis of process and machine issues
- Develop an excellent level of TAL
15K process and machine understanding in order to carry out customer support activities - Work with machine suppliers to develop solutions that enable a FlexIC inlay assembly process at high volume
- Give valued, meaningful input to help drive projects to a successful conclusion
- Work on projects which require judgement in resolving issues and making valuable recommendations
- Travel approximately 50% of the time to provide technical support to offsite customer engagements
- Assist in qualifying machine upgrades to run the Pragmatic products.
- Provide high quality mentoring and training to staff
- Write technical reports, collation, and interpretation of data
- Perform new machine evaluations and upgrade feasibility trials
- Implement and support lean and continuous improvement initiatives
The successful candidate will ideally be educated to degree level in a related discipline, or will possess relevant experience.
Skills and experience- Prior knowledge and experience of high-volume die attach processing
- Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing
- Ability to speak effectively to vendors, customers, and other employees of the organisation
- Ability and willingness to spend a significant amount of time travelling
- Experience of R2R (reel-to-reel) processing would be advantageous
- PFMEA, PCP and OCAP (advantage)
- Label conversion processing (advantage)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
