Applications are invited for the post of Deputy Clerk.

Wroughton & Wichelstowe Parish Council has 15 councillors and is very active, with a number of projects being delivered over the last few years and this is continuing in the future with current projects in need of completion. Wroughton was first parish in Swindon to complete a Neighbourhood Plan and over the next few years it’s expected to grow in size considerably due to ongoing development sites held within the Swindon Local Plan.

Wroughton & Wichelstowe Parish Council is seeking a suitably experienced person with previous experience of working in local government. The successful applicant should have excellent communication, administrative and organisational skills and preferably be CiLCA qualified and /or willing to study for the qualification. Training would to begin 6 months after probation period has passed. Local government work experience would also be an advantage and both will effect the pay grade offering.

The Deputy Clerk will be responsible for supporting the day to day business of the council, including the production of agendas and minutes for several council committees, liaising with outside bodies, as well as providing advice and implementing the council’s decisions. The applicant will need sufficient financial administrative capabilities and experience with working alongside local government financial regulations and policies / procedures.

There will be evening council meetings and occasional weekend work required so the applicant must be flexible to accommodate council meetings and events.
