Consultant Psychiatrist – Practice Plus Group

We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our mental health team at HMP Gartree. HMP Gartree is a category B prison based in Market Harborough, housing around 650 patients. You will be working closely with the multidisciplinary team, including an integrated mental health team, to deliver psychiatric support to adult males mainly aged 28‑50, most with complex mental health and historic trauma needs.

20 hours per week across 2.5 days. The site also offers a rolling rota – 2 days one week and 3 days the next – with flexibility on weekdays. For full‑time work, additional sessions are available at HMP Stocken or HMP Five Wells.

Annual salary up to £186,480 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

• Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the case load onsite
• Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision
• Work within the multidisciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi‑professional complex case reviews

• Registered professional with current GMC registration
• Specialist registration in General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry
• Approved under section 12(2) of the MHS 1983
• Understanding of complex multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working
• Up‑to‑date knowledge in adult psychiatry and personality disorders
• Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation
