AboutThe Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join the team at HMP Wymott, a Category C male prison located in Leyland. HMP Wymott has capacity of around 1,100, and has a varied and complex population.

This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care.
HoursThis is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week. Shifts are Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 16:30.
SalaryThis position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary of £29,264 – £33,510 dependent on experience.

Applicants are required to have a legal right to work in the UK. Due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
What you'll be doing- Deliver outstanding care to psychosocial patients, seeking out, listening to, and acting on their feedback – ensuring that their care is personalised and tailored to the individual.
- Manage a caseload of patients (around 70) with varying needs, including substance misuse, mental health, trauma, etc.
- Deliver group sessions on drug use, relapse prevention, overdose awareness, harm reduction, etc.
- Provide a programme of psychosocial interventions and comprehensive assessments.
- Provide information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation, blood‑borne viruses and safe sex practices.
- Prepare patients for release and transfer, ensuring continuity of care.
- Deliver care on a 1‑1 basis as well as group sessions.

Our New Substance Misuse Recovery Worker Will- Have experience within Substance Misuse, ideally a prison / secure environment, and ideally within a Recovery Worker / Practitioner role.
- Have experience of working within the substance misuse multi‑disciplinary framework, which includes housing, social care, health care and mental health pathways.
- Have a flexible approach, and excellent communication skills.
- Have a non‑judgemental and compassionate approach.
