An exciting and rare opportunity has become available to join the dedicated team working on one of England’s finest private gardens, set within a stunning private estate in North Yorkshire. Designed by renowned garden designer Tom Stuart‑Smith, the gardens are a true showcase of horticultural excellence.
We are looking for a hardworking, enthusiastic, and practically minded individual to help maintain and enhance our beautiful gardens and associated estate properties. The gardens are made up of elaborate formal perennial borders and terraces, gravel beds, delightful informal valley gardens, a Victorian vegetable garden and expansive lawns and woodlands.
The Ideal CandidateWe are looking for someone who :
- Has good horticultural knowledge and experience.
- Is physically fit, self‑motivated, and demonstrates a mature approach to work.
- Has a positive, can‑do attitude with strong attention to detail.
- Can work well independently or as part of a professional and committed team.
- Has excellent time‑keeping and organisational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ideally trained to a RHS Level II in horticulture or equivalent.
Your role will involve a wide variety of tasks, including but not limited to :
- Border maintenance
- Propagation of plants for garden use and sales
- Weed control (including use of herbicides)
- Leaf blowing and collection
- Assist with garden tours and Open days
- Horticultural care of a number of estate gardens
- Ensuring that Health and Safety guidelines are followed
- RHS Level II in horticulture or equivalent
- Use of hand and power tools
- Full UK driving licence
- PA1 and PA6 spraying certificates
- Uniform and PPE provided
- 40‑hour work week (Monday to Friday) with seasonal adjustments; occasional weekend work required
