(Walsall Waste Recycling Centre) - Hours per week: 17 (Saturday & Sunday 08:30‑17:30)
- Salary: £12.31 per hour
- Option for overtime
- Merchandising stock, organising, preparing, pricing and presenting donations for sale to increase sales and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Managing stock and communicating with the re‑use hub manager what the shop requires delivering.
- Operating the cash register, counting/reconciling cash and credit card receipts, processing returns and refunds.
- Ensuring goods are sold at appropriate value and all rejected items are disposed of appropriately.
- Making certain that collections and deliveries are arranged efficiently and cost‑effectively.
- Maintaining the security of the shop premises, stock and cash.
You will be expected to promote the values of the shop and the charitable nature of the re‑use scheme in Walsall, providing excellent customer experience to encourage repeat customers and the smooth, profitable running of the shop.
What are the requirements?- Passion for the environment and this re‑use project, with prior retail experience and enthusiasm for excellent customer service.
- Knowledge of recycling and up‑cycling, or willingness to rapidly develop it, together with understanding of maintaining stock, merchandising and financial aspects of retail.
- Flexible attitude to work shift and weekend work will be required.
- Confidence to initially work alone in the re‑use shop (until volunteers are recruited).
- Excellent teamwork skills as you will work closely with site staff on the HWRCs.
