Civil Engineer - Transportation and Road Infrastructure

Our client is seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to join their team in Upington, Northern Cape, with a primary focus on transportation and road infrastructure projects. You will be instrumental in the planning, design, and execution of road networks, bridges, and associated transportation systems that are vital for the region's connectivity and economic development. Working closely with project managers and construction crews, you will ensure that projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and to the highest engineering standards.

• Design and plan new road construction projects, including geometric design, pavement design, and drainage systems.
• Oversee the construction phase of road projects, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards.
• Conduct traffic studies and analyses to inform road design and network planning.
• Prepare tender documents, contract administration, and project cost management.
• Liaise with municipal authorities, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
• Ensure all designs and construction activities adhere to relevant national standards and safety regulations.

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and construction of road and transportation infrastructure.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) or Technologist (Pr. Tech Eng) registration with ECSA is preferred.
• Proven experience in using civil engineering design software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and relevant pavement design packages.
• Strong understanding of project management principles and contract administration.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
