Senior Civil Engineer - Roads and Stormwater

Our client, a well-established engineering consultancy focused on municipal and regional infrastructure development, is seeking a dedicated Senior Civil Engineer to join their team in Upington, Northern Cape . This role is central to the design and management of critical road and stormwater infrastructure projects that serve the community. You will be responsible for leading design efforts, ensuring compliance with standards, and overseeing project execution from conception to completion.

• Lead the design and development of road infrastructure projects, including geometric design, pavement design, and intersection analysis.
• Design and manage stormwater management systems, including drainage calculations, culvert design, and flood mitigation strategies.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents for road and stormwater projects.
• Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and impact assessments.
• Collaborate with clients, municipal authorities, and contractors to ensure project requirements are met.
• Oversee construction phases, providing technical support and ensuring adherence to design specifications.
• Mentor and guide junior engineering staff, fostering their technical skills and project contribution.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant national and provincial standards and regulations.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for project stakeholders.

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr. Eng. or Candidate Engineer (Pr. Eng.) is preferred.
• A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, with a strong focus on road design and stormwater management.
• Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and hydrological modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM).
• Solid understanding of road construction materials, methodologies, and pavement design principles.
• Knowledge of stormwater hydrology, hydraulic design, and flood control measures.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in Upington .
• Experience working with municipal clients and understanding of public infrastructure procurement processes is advantageous.
