Having experienced tremendous growth over the past five years, Alera is looking for a full-time, experienced Junior Accountant to join our team, and assist in further growing a sophisticated brand within the beauty and wellness space.

Description:

As the Junior Accountant, you will report to the Senior Manager of Accounting + Finance and play an integral part in the finance team. You will be responsible for preparing, reconciling, analyzing, and processing financial transactions in accordance with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. Alera has a highly automated accounting system with a strong foundation and team member buy-in, which minimizes the number of manual adjustments and journal entries.

• Review and process expenses and other transactions as assigned
• Support financial month-end close and other reporting requirements for Canadian and US entities
• Prepare bank and credit card reconciliations, investigate discrepancies
• Ensure accuracy of expense categorizations within Alera’s online expense system
• Assist in the preparation of journal entries including year end, and intercompany/intracompany
• Record monthly sales and expenses from our online platforms
• Create bi-monthly payment runs
• Manage accounts receivable balance by reviewing sales transactions, follow up on outstanding invoices
• Collaborate with team members to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data
• Support any other finance duties or team projects as assigned

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 1-2 years of relevant work experience performing full-cycle accounting
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and concepts
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Detail oriented, with strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Familiarity with Quick Books Online with a grasp on multi-currency accounting
• Must be able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
