Front-end Web Development

  • Collaborate with our web design team to ensure seamless integration of design and functionality.
  • Utilize HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, alongside content management systems Word Press and Square Space, to transform design concepts into interactive, responsive web pages.
  • Maintain websites using Word Press and Squarespace, ensuring a user-friendly and visually appealing experience.
  • Optimize web assets for performance and user experience.
  • Review and assess data/information from Google Analytics and Crazy Egg heat mapping software to inform decisions about user experience.
  • Add alt tags, navigational features, and other accessibility features as requested by the Beacon team.
  • Stay updated on design trends and industry best practices to ensure our designs remain fresh and effective.

What do you need to be a front end developer with us?

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the graphic design field.
  • A compelling portfolio showcasing your design work, front-end development projects (including Word Press and Squarespace experience), and production design proficiency.
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva, and Figma, etc.).
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, along with the ability to hand-code responsive web designs.
  • Familiarity with content management systems, particularly Word Press and Squarespace.
  • Impeccable attention to detail, coupled with a deep understanding of typography, color theory, and layout design.
  • Outstanding communication skills and a collaborative approach within a remote team.
  • Proactive and self-motivated work ethic, with a strong ability to manage your time, meet deadlines and work within allocated time frames.

If you don't meet all the criteria but this still sounds like the role for you, please apply! We believe that values, ability and a desire to learn are just as important as ticking every box in a list of requirements.

We are an equal opportunity employer and work actively to create an inclusive and diverse environment for employees from all walks of life.

Some things we're looking for.

Communication skills — You’ll be interfacing daily with other team members and clients, so clear written and verbal communication is key.

Accountability — You take full ownership of projects and ensure to deliver them on time. You understand the impact of your work on the team's success. You’re not afraid to admit if and when mistakes happen and make corrective actions.

Organizational skills — You'll be responsible for tracking the flow of tasks through our project management software and ensuring everything is in order.

Creative problem solving — You can research, troubleshoot, and ask questions to get yourself unstuck.

Take initiative and ownership of production design and front end development at Beacon — We want you to bring your experience to help make our processes as good as they can be.

Balance pragmatism and perfection — We need things done right, but we value iterative improvement over waiting until it’s “just right.”

Ability to work with others — We’re a close-knit team and constantly putting our heads together to find the best solutions. No lone wolves here.

Desire to learn and expand your skill set — Maybe you can teach us something new.

Compensation.

$25-32 hr is what we’re thinking, but let’s talk about your experience and expectations around compensation, we’re creative! We also offer: a comprehensive and flexible benefits package, birthday off with pay, and other benefits and perks.
