About Kambo Energy Group

Working in partnership with utilities, governments, Indigenous Nations, and other industry partners we reduce energy poverty, accelerate decarbonization, and improve housing in traditionally underserved communities across Canada and the United States. Kambo delivers three in-house programs:
Empower Me, Community Power, and the Home Upgrades Program.

Empower Me delivers multilingual education, support, and coaching services to ensure underrepresented communities have access to energy, climate, and home retrofit programs.

Community Power supports Indigenous Nations to build, renovate, and improve community housing.

Home Upgrades Program provides fully subsidized energy retrofits to improve affordability for households living in energy poverty.

About the Opportunity

The Energy Analyst & Assessor will work in our Community Power division and report to the Senior Community Operations Manager. Your primary responsibilities will involve assessing residential homes to identify deficiencies in building components and opportunities for energy savings. This role works closely with our Construction & Housing Specialists to refine and shape all home upgrade recommendations to suit each customer’s unique needs, priorities, and budgets.

You will also be required to prepare and analyze energy consumption data both at the home level and across large building portfolios to identify trends, build forecasts, and form long‑term recommendations for optimized energy use.

The successful applicant will have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and be passionate about sharing knowledge with home occupants, customer groups, and colleagues. You work effectively in small, collaborative teams and can think critically to find simple solutions to problems. To thrive in this role, you must be able to adapt easily to changing priorities and be comfortable managing your own time and driving work forward autonomously when needed.

Cultural sensitivity and respect when working in Indigenous communities is essential to success in this role.

This is a fully remote, permanent full‑time position with regular travel required throughout BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. You must be able to be away from home for 5‑10 days at a time, up to twice a month.

Core Accountabilities
  • Perform Community Power’s home energy assessments in various types of residential homes including detached, semi‑detached, and multi‑unit buildings.
  • Assess and report on the condition of various housing components including HVAC systems, windows and doors, wall assemblies, electrical systems, and renewable energy systems for the purpose of asset management and repair planning.
  • Provide customized in‑home education to home occupants to help them conserve energy.
  • Develop highly custom, practical recommendations for home occupants as well as housing management staff to reduce energy use and improve overall home performance.
  • Generate HOT
2000 models of assessed homes for the purpose of quantifying baseline energy use and the savings associated with recommended upgrades.
  • Use proprietary software to generate detailed home energy assessment reports that outline all findings and recommendations.
  • Write reports that outline assessment results and summarize recommendations in a non‑technical and action‑oriented language.
  • Prepare and analyze large sets of assessment and energy consumption data to identify common issues, trends, and valuable insights for the customer.
  • Speak to assessment findings and present recommendations to customers.
  • Collaborate with the larger Community Power team to develop processes and tools that support operational efficiency and increase team capacity.
Qualifications
  • Designation as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Applied Science Technologist (AScT) or Ener Guide Energy Advisor (EA) is a requirement for this role.
  • Advanced knowledge of HOT
2000 and the willingness to adapt to new software is required.
  • Advanced technical skills in MS Excel, capable of developing sophisticated workbooks that integrate formulas, data tools, automation, and complex visualizations is required.
  • A strong understanding of renewable and alternative energy systems would be an asset.
  • Experience working with Indigenous and remote communities would be an asset.
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license is required.

The ideal candidate will be located in the Lower Mainland, BC. We value diversity and inclusivity and strongly encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply. Your unique experiences and perspectives are invaluable to our work and community impact.
