SRK Consulting is an independent, international consulting practice, providing globally integrated consulting services to the international mining and metals sector.
We are seeking an Intermediate Hydrogeologist.
Description of ResponsibilitiesThe Canadian Groundwater Group currently has 13 staff with experience in physical and chemical hydrogeology and modeling. There are more than 25 hydro geologists in SRK North America and over 60 worldwide.
The candidate will work within our hydrogeology group, generally as part of larger interdisciplinary teams including mining, geochemistry, water management, and engineering. Responsibilities include field work planning and implementation, drill supervision, hydrogeological instrumentation installation and operation in deep environments (>250m), database management, aquifer testing, data analysis, conceptual modeling, and reporting. Projects may involve greenfield or brownfield sites, from exploration to operations to mine closure, focusing on environmental and/or engineering aspects.
Specific activities include data interpretation, development of conceptual models, coordination with geochemists, structural geologists, and geotechnical engineers, development of water and load balance models, estimation of pit or underground inflows, remedial options analysis, engineering design contributions, and interpreting data from remediation systems.
The successful candidate will interact closely with team members across disciplines, managing tasks and junior staff, preparing reports and presentations, and collaborating with experts to grow their consulting career.
Essential Requirements- An undergraduate degree (masters or higher preferred) in geology, geological/civil engineering, or physical geography, emphasizing hydrogeology, hydrology, environmental engineering, or geotechnical disciplines.
- Minimum of five years of relevant experience; mining industry experience is a plus.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in teams.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Ability to work on-site for long hours in variable weather conditions.
- Experience with deep groundwater instrumentation (>250m).
- Willingness to travel locally, nationally, and internationally.
- Valid driver’s license with a good record.
- Professional registration or eligibility to obtain it.
This role involves working in multidisciplinary teams on various projects, including international travel.
