Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze electrical drawings, specifications, and project documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs and develop pricing for labour, materials, and equipment
- Solicit and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
- Prepare and submit competitive bids and tender proposals within required deadlines
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to clarify scope, risks, and construction methods
- Maintain and update cost databases, estimating tools, and historical pricing information
- Attend site meetings and pre-bid walkthroughs as needed
- Provide value-engineering suggestions and identify cost-saving opportunities during pre-construction
- Assist in handoff meetings and project budgeting upon award of contracts
- Certificate, diploma, or degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or Construction Estimating
- 3+ years of experience estimating electrical work in residential high-rise, commercial, or mixed-use developments
- Solid understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code, construction drawings, and local building requirements
- Proficient in estimating software such as Accubid, Live Count, or equivalent
- Strong skills in MS Office, especially Excel
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple bids with tight timelines
- Journeyman Electrician certification (asset but not required)
