CIMA+ is seeking a Mobility and Transportation Engineer to join our multidisciplinary Transportation team in Vancouver. Key Responsibilities
- Support business development efforts, including identifying new opportunities, cultivating client relationships, and preparing winning proposals.
- Deliver high-impact transportation projects, overseeing all phases from initiation to closeout, with a focus on quality, budget, and schedule.
- Guide multidisciplinary project teams across traffic engineering, transportation planning, road safety, data analytics, and design (illumination, signals, etc.).
- Engage in strategic planning and client management to align project outcomes with client and community goals.
- Collaborate with other sectors within CIMA+ to support cross-disciplinary initiatives and corporate growth strategies.
- Recruit and mentor junior staff, including students and EITs, to help develop the next generation of transportation professionals.
As a Mobility and Transportation Engineer at CIMA+, you will play an important role in driving the growth of our Transportation Engineering practice in BC. In collaboration with local and national leaders, your business development responsibilities will include:
- Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities across public and private sectors, with a focus on provincial, regional, and municipal clients.
- Building and nurturing long-term client relationships, working to understand their evolving transportation needs and delivering tailored solutions.
- Producing proposal content, including crafting compelling technical approaches, coordinating subconsultant inputs, and ensuring alignment with client expectations and industry standards.
- Conducting market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, funding opportunities, and strategic partnerships that align with CIMA+’s growth objectives.
- Representing CIMA+ at industry events, conferences, and stakeholder meetings, enhancing visibility and positioning the firm as a leader in mobility and transportation innovation.
- Collaborating with internal teams to align business development efforts with corporate strategy, cross-sector initiatives, and regional priorities.
- Mentoring junior staff in service delivery best practices, proposal preparation, and client engagement to build internal capacity and foster a culture of entrepreneurship.
Ideal candidates should demonstrate a combination of the core qualifications outlined for this role and be eager to learn, adapt, and develop new skills as industry trends evolve.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia or eligible to apply for the designation.
- Minimum 7 years of consulting experience in transportation engineering, with a strong portfolio of project delivery and client engagement.
- Proven experience working with BC public agencies responsible for transportation, transit and municipal infrastructure is essential.
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian and BC transportation standards, including TAC guidelines, provincial manuals, and municipal engineering requirements.
- Proficiency in traffic operations, simulation, and design software such as AIMSUN, VISSIM, EMME, Synchro, and CAD/GIS applications is beneficial.
- Familiarity with modern safety concepts and performance evaluation methods, including Vision Zero, the Safe Systems Approach, the Highway Safety Manual (HSM) predictive method, and surrogate safety analysis tools is desirable.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
