Role descriptionArcadis is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer with experience in the design of heavy civil structures and bridges to join our design team in Western Canada. The role leads and supports multi-disciplinary projects in the roads, rail, and ports sectors, working with private and public sector clients and leveraging Arcadis design and engineering capabilities from across Canada and around the world.
Our design and engineering team works on a wide range of projects including major projects such as the Fraser River Tunnel Project, Vancouver and the Ontario Line transit project in Toronto, taking multi-disciplinary projects from planning through to detailed design stages and into construction.
Role accountabilitiesIn this role you will be responsible for producing, supervising, and managing the creation of engineering products on a wide variety of civil engineering design projects from concept through construction. You will help define the problem, establish the work scope, prepare budgets and schedules, plan the work, provide technical direction, and mentor less experienced team members. You will prepare and check detailed engineering calculations and models, drawings, specifications, quantities and cost estimates, technical reports, procurement documents, design packages, proposals, and analyses.
You will provide technical engineering services during construction, review contractor submissions, coordinate with other disciplines, and maintain client relationships. You will also lead successful project pursuits, including budgeting, staffing, and writing proposals. You may perform project management duties including assembling teams, controlling budgets and schedules, quality control, client interaction, and financial reporting, while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
You will work to tight project schedules while ensuring the quality of deliverables and provide input to CAD Designers, Drafters, Designers, and other Engineers.
Qualifications & Experience- 4-year degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution
- 10+ years of recent civil structural engineering design experience, including inspection, analysis, load-rating, design, and construction experience. Seismic analysis and design experience is an asset
- Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and collaborative skills
- Ability to provide effective technical mentoring to less experienced engineers
- Licensed Professional Engineer in BC and/or Ontario or Alberta
- Technical knowledge of civil structural engineering design and analysis principles
- Excellent technical report writing experience and skills

The salary range for this position is $89,000 - $134,000. Actual salaries vary based on location, skills, experience, and qualifications.
