Environmental Project Director (Technical Director)
LocationVancouver, British Columbia (open to other BC locations).
OpportunityWSP is looking for a Technical Director to join our Remediation Program Management team. This national team serves large clients across Canada and is focused on managing assessment, remediation, and closure of contaminated sites. The role will provide technical direction for a large portfolio of downstream oil and gas, midstream, and upstream sites.
Job DescriptionYou will be responsible for technical direction of a large portfolio of contaminated sites in British Columbia. You are expected to bring complex contaminated sites to closure and provide mentorship and leadership to project teams.
Key Responsibilities- Review deliverables including Phase 1 & 2 Environmental Site Assessments, Detailed Site Investigations, regulatory forms, and technical reporting.
- Provide mentorship to Junior & Intermediate project managers, report authors, and field staff.
- Support Project Managers with technical presentations and communications with clients and regulators.
- Support leadership with client management and stewardship of client objectives.
- Support leadership with Requests for Proposals.
- Complete site visits to support junior staff in the field.
- Act as a strong health and safety advocate and lead by example.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geoscience, or related discipline.
- 10–15 years of experience providing technical direction of contaminated sites in British Columbia.
- Eligibility or immediate eligibility to register as a professional in BC (P.Ag, P.Chem, P.Eng, P.Geo, RPBio).
- Strong understanding of the BC Contaminated Sites Regulation, Environmental Management Act; knowledge of Alberta regulations is an asset.
- Ability to apply to become a Contaminated Sites Approved Professional within 1–2 years.
- Strong mentoring abilities and a commitment to fostering an inclusive team dynamic.
- Good communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Power
BI, and Oracle.
Expected Salary: $120,000 – $150,000 (all locations).
