Data Geoscientist

SRK Consulting is an independent, international consulting practice, providing globally integrated consulting services to the international mining and metals sector.

Description of Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Geologist or Engineer specializing in Geoscience Data and Analytics for our Vancouver-based Geology and Geotech team.

Our Vancouver-based Geology and Geotech group has a diverse cross-section of structural geologists, resource geologists, and rock mechanics engineers. As a consultant within this team, your general responsibilities will include the completion of data science projects applied to mining-related rock mechanics and geoscience. Our work incorporates data processing, data analysis, and the implementation of machine learning models applied to projects over the range of the mining lifecycle.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-value deliverables to our clients.

• A postgraduate degree specializing in the application of advanced statistical analysis and/or machine learning to geoscience
• Mining / metals industry experience
• Registration as either an Engineer or Geologist in Training (EIT/GIT) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
• Strong programming skills with a scientific coding language (Python, R, Julia) and frameworks like Tensor Flow and Py Torch
• A strong theoretical background with demonstrated competence in defining applied and practical solutions
• Proven ability to work independently and in a team to generate, implement, and complete projects
• Willingness to partake in field investigations.

Additional Beneficial Experience:

• Experience with Microsoft Azure or other cloud computing solutions
• Proficiency with geospatial tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) and/or 3D implicit modeling software (Leapfrog)
• Experience in rock mechanics, soil mechanics, structural geology, or geostatistics.
• Prior consulting experience
