What You Will Do Summary

Providence Health Care's Mental Health Program is currently accepting applications for the Alder Neuropsychiatry Long Term Stabilization Unit cent’s Hospital, Langara site . Alder serves clients between the ages of 18–64 years with a range of neuropsychiatric conditions of traumatic, non-traumatic brain injury, electrical malfunction, extrinsic toxic metabolic disturbances and somatoform disorders. Shifts will primarily be 07:00-19:00 and 19:00-07:00.

Our RN and RPN teams are core members of our interdisciplinary care teams, working closely with other disciplines to tackle the rewarding variety of treatment needs of the patient populations we serve. Your duties will include:

  • Patient Care and Assessment: Review patient/resident status, assess problems and needs, and develop, implement, and evaluate personalized care plans. Monitor progress, document observations, and modify care plans based on evaluations.
  • Crisis Management and Interventions: Provide direct nursing interventions for crisis and life-threatening situations, ensuring timely and appropriate responses to patient needs.
  • Team Collaboration and Supervision: Offer clinical direction and support to other staff members, including Care Attendants and Licensed Practical Nurses. Participate in interdisciplinary team activities and contribute to effective teamwork.

    Education:

    Identify learning needs, provide educational materials, lead group sessions, and coach patients/residents and families to develop and maintain health-promoting behaviors.
What You Bring

Education

  • Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives or in Residential Care and Mental Health, current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College Nurses and Midwives.
  • One year recent experience in acute psychiatry or tertiary mental health or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service.
  • Ability to work as a member in an interdisciplinary team.

  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
