Under the guidance of the Resident Care Manager and in close collaboration with a diverse healthcare team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) delivers top-notch nursing care to long-term care residents in addition to providing emotional comfort and support to residents and their families. St. Vincent's Langara is a three-story facility featuring a spacious atrium on the main floor. This atrium leads to a charming patio, complete with gardening areas for residents to enjoy. Additionally, the serene atmosphere is enhanced by a peaceful chapel adorned with beautiful stained glass windows.

Education:

• Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant
• Current basic cardiac life support certification

Skills & Abilities:

• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position

Your Day to Day

• Provide safe and respectful nursing care, adhering to established policies, individualized care plans, and priorities
• Conduct thorough assessments, monitor signs/symptoms, and communicate with the RN/RPN as needed
• Prepare patients for procedures, transfers, and admissions, coordinating with the interdisciplinary team
• Administer medications per protocol, monitor effects, and maintain communication with the team
• Utilize evidence-based resources to stay updated on nursing practices
• Respond to incidents such as codes, injuries, spills, and alarms, following procedures
• Assist with staff orientation, demonstrating procedures and providing support
• Address patient/resident and family learning needs, provide educational materials, and make referrals
• Attend care planning meetings, provide input, and advocate for patients/residents
• Collaborate with the team to develop and evaluate individualized care plans
• Assist with discharge planning based on patient status and external supports
• Operate and clean equipment, report malfunctions, and handle hazardous materials. Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, faxing, and maintaining records
