Overview

Research Scientist – Protein Engineering & Library-Based Screening (12-month Contract)  role focuses on executing and optimizing mammalian library-based approaches for antibody and antigen engineering within the Protein Engineering team on a fixed-term contract.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teammates to develop and implement mammalian library screening approaches to engineer antibodies and protein antigens for therapeutic development.
• Contribute hands-on to screening activities, including library design and delivery, assay development and implementation, data analysis, and interpretation.
• Organize, support, and collaborate with team members to meet project deliverables and timelines.
• Train and mentor scientists.
• Prepare materials to inform teammates and communicate strategies, key findings, and implications.

• thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and coordinate with the team to juggle multiple priorities.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently to identify project needs and implement solutions.
• PhD in a relevant field, or MSc with at least 5 years of relevant work experience in academic or industry settings.
• Experience with mammalian cell line engineering and cell-based assay development; knowledge of flow cytometry applications, single-cell technologies, and library-based methods for antibody/protein engineering is a plus.
• Familiarity with next-generation sequencing and analysis of library screening approaches.
• Experience mentoring teammates and strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public presentation of complex data.
• Excellent documentation and organizational skills.

AbCellera’s salary range for this role is CAD $73,600 - $92,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience. In addition to base salary, benefits include a 6% (non-match) RRSP contribution, a CAD $1,500 annual Active Lifestyle Allowance, annual vacation, and comprehensive health benefits.
