Job Description & How to Apply Below
** Engineering a world of possibilities
** The Quantum Sensing and Subatomic Physics Groups at the Colorado School of Mines are recruiting a post-doctoral researcher to take a leading role in our broad program through precision measurements of rare isotope decay in advanced sensors.

The  and Quantum Sensing Group the at the  is recruiting a post-doctoral researcher to take a leading role in our broad program using rare-isotope-doped advanced sensors.  We seek an experienced candidate with interest in using low-temperature or optical sensing techniques to search for physics Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) via precision measurements of nuclear decay at the eV-scale.  The successful candidate will be integrated into both the  and  experiments, as well as our other experimental programs under development, and will be tasked with driving their technical and scientific goals while advising several graduate students.

The researcher will primarily be based in Golden, CO, USA and will manage the local experimental and laboratory facilities related to the superconducting sensing programs, however frequent travel to other locations including Michigan, TRIUMF (Vancouver, Canada) and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (California) may be required.  The candidate must be able to work well in diverse, mid-sized international collaborations, and will be responsible for documenting and disseminating their research work according to guidelines of the collaborations.

It is also expected that researchers will have the interest and opportunity to develop their own new physics research directions within the general scope of our program.

Opportunities to collaborate on experiments at labs around the world within our research portfolio is also possible based on the candidates' expertise and interest. The initial appointment will be for two years, with the possible extension of a third. Salary and benefits are highly competitive and will be commensurate with the experience and fit of the candidate. The successful candidate will report directly to , head of the Electroweak Interactions Group, PI of the SALER project at FRIB, and Spokesperson for the BeEST experiment, but will work closely with our entire research network.
** PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
*** Technical development of superconducting and/or optomechanical quantum devices for BSM physics searches using rare isotopes
* Low-background detection and cryogenic environment development for superconducting devices in the Colorado Underground Research Institute (CURIE)
* Develop and lead new physics research directions within the scope of the BeEST and SALER experiments for neutrino physics and fundamental symmetries
* Organize and lead the local research efforts in Colorado including mentoring a large team of student and staff researchers
* Interact with university, industry, and laboratory collaboration partners on various aspects of the technical and scientific components of the experiments, including travel and extended work on-location.
** ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
*** Publish research results in peer-reviewed, high-level scientific or technical journals
* Present results at national and international conferences, seminars, and workshops
* Other duties as assigned
** TOTAL REWARDS**$65,000 - $70,000 annual salary rate Mines takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.
