Reporting to the Head of the Division of Dermatology at BC Children’s Hospital and to the Principal Investigators of specific research studies and projects, the Research Manager is responsible for the overall management and direction of the research project, program and clinical study area. The Research Manager plans, coordinates, and manages research projects within the context of a research culture and in accordance with the policies, procedures, mission, vision and values of Children’s and Women’s Health Center of BC (C&W) and the University of British Columbia (UBC).
** Job Description Summary
** To manage research and activities and program implementation for the Division of Dermatology and the Eczema Care and Research Initiative.
Major responsibilities include:
* Advising PIs in conducting research studies related, but not limited to clinical trial approval process, study design, budget set up, reviewing protocols, impact of research projects on program resource utilization, standard operational procedure development, development and updating of resource manuals for research practices, and policies and procedures, within the Division of Dermatology and Eczema Care and Research Initiative.
* Liaising with both internal and external research collaborators to coordinate research related activities.
** Organizational Status
** The Eczema Care and Research Initiative is a program within the Division of Dermatology. The Research Manager has a leadership role in the development and implementation of this program.
Position to whom this person reports: Head, Division of Dermatology – Wingfield Rehmus, MD MPH for overall function. Specific investigators including Dr. Allison Gregory, Dr. Joseph Lam and others for specific research studies.
Positions with whom this person works:
All division members including physicians, allied health professionals, computer programming specialists, statisticians, clinical trials nurse, medical students working on specific projects and divisional clerical staff.
Contacts (internal and external to the University):
Institutional Review Board (UBC) and Hospital Research Review Committee (C&W), finance offices at UBC, BCCHRI, CRSU, and PHSA, other individuals who are working in equivalent research positions either in the institution or in other institutions who are research collaborators, patients and parents of patients involved in research studies. Will build relationships with patient organizations such as the Eczema Society of Canada as well as research organizations such as PeDRA (Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance).
