Electronic Arts creates next‑level entertainment experiences that inspire players and fans around the world. EA SPORTS, one of the most iconic brands in sports & entertainment, is building a new unannounced AAA product across platforms. The Advanced Technology Group develops the latest game features and engine enhancements in close collaboration with game and engine dev teams.
The Lead Software Engineer will partner with the Frostbite team, game teams, and art teams to create user‑facing experiences and streamline content workflows. You will lead architectural design, implement technology on multiple platforms, and guide the team from discovery through production and integration into customer titles.
Your Responsibilities- Lead the technical design, architecture, and implementation of major system components.
- Develop technical solutions across all areas of the Advanced Technology Group.
- Collaborate with Frostbite teams on tools, technology, and workflows.
- Work with customer teams across the Sports & Racing organization to bring technology and features into their titles.
- Guide the team through all project phases, focusing on build stability, performance, and optimization.
- Participate in interviewing top tier talent to grow a passionate and performing team.
- Partner with the Development Director and Producer to guide the team's execution and foster a collaborative culture.
- Passion for working in gaming.
- Technical leadership and mentoring experience.
- Experience leading a team of 5+ engineers.
- Strong C++ and architectural/software engineering skills.
- Experience with the software design/architecture process.
- High‑level strategic thinking and execution drive.
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical issues to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- At least 6 years’ experience developing object‑oriented software.
- Deep understanding of memory management, multi‑processor use, and runtime optimization.
The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits.
PAY RANGES- British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) $119,600 – $167,300 CAD
We offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days sick time per year, paid top‑up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100 % of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, and a retirement plan. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
