Senior Software Engineer (React-leaning)

We’re scaling our Product & Engineering organisation and expanding our Sydney hub, and we’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer with deep React expertise who wants to build, ship, and shape a global SaaS product used and loved by leading law firms around the world.

If you love being close to users and UI, this role will feel like home. While your strength is in React/Type Script, you’ll work across the full stack to ship end-to-end features as part of a collaborative, cross-functional squad with Product & Design, and help define the patterns, architecture, and frontend quality bar as we scale.

We’re looking for someone who brings strong technical depth, product intuition, and a high level of ownership — someone who raises the bar, uses AI to accelerate their workflow, and knows how to balance autonomy with collaboration.

Must haves:

• Strong experience building React/Type Script applications
• Comfort working full-stack, especially with Ruby on Rails
• Good instincts around UX, UI quality, and user‑centred design
• Experience building and shipping in SaaS or fast‑moving tech environments
• Strong debugging, testing, and performance awareness
• Ability to take ownership, operate autonomously, and drive outcomes
• Comfortable solving ambiguous or complex problems
• Strong collaboration skills with Engineering, Product, and Design
• Understanding of security best practices (auth, permissions, data protection)
• Solid grounding in performance, logging, monitoring, and tracing
• Growth mindset + drive to raise the bar
• Fluency using AI tools as part of your engineering workflow

Nice to haves:

• Experience in multi‑tenant, data‑heavy applications
• Experience with Graph
  
  QL, gRPC, or real‑time communication protocols (Web Sockets)
• Exposure to AI/LLM application development
• Experience working in cross‑functional squads
• Exposure to React Native or Python
• Familiarity with Marketing Tech, CRM‑like systems, or workflow automation products
• Experience in Legal Tech or Professional Services tech
• Knowledge of Dev Ops practices, Infrastructure as Code or cloud infrastructure (AWS or Azure)
• Experience mentoring engineers or influencing engineering culture
• Experience in early‑stage or scale‑up environments

• Build polished, high‑quality interfaces using React + Type Script
• Ship full‑stack features, contributing to backend work in Rails + Python
• Work closely with Product & Design to create simple, intuitive user experiences
• Improve frontend performance, maintainability, accessibility, and consistency
• Help evolve our frontend architecture, components, and design system
• Debug issues across the stack (starting with the UI)
• Use AI tools to move faster from coding to testing to documentation
• Mentor engineers and help lift our engineering bar
• Influence standards, patterns, and long‑term frontend direction
