As a Senior Software Engineer, Backend, you will be working on the Smart Charging and Green Energy Applications team, building features on services that provide charging optimizations that will empower Rivian customers to make more green and cost‑effective choices. You will be working closely with Mobile teams and third‑party stakeholders to build a world‑class product for Rivian customers. The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer that has strong problem‑solving and collaboration skills, who is comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment, and holds themselves to high engineering standards.

Software Development:

• Develop server‑side applications leveraging AWS services, including Lambda, Event Bridge, SQS, Dynamo
  
  DB, Open Search
• Develop a highly scalable, generic, and maintainable API layer that can be applied to multiple applications and clients.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code following best practices.
• Ensure that code is highly testable, and test coverage is at a high standard.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and trends, integrating innovative approaches into development workflows.
• Perform code reviews to uphold high standards of software quality and maintainability.
• Analyze complex problems, propose effective solutions, and deliver results on time.

System Design and Architecture:

• Assist in designing and implementing a highly‑distributed, scalable, and high‑performance backend system.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and third‑party partners to define software requirements and system architecture.

Dev Ops:

• Develop CI/CD pipelines for seamless build, test, and deployment processes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues promptly.
• Must be open to on‑call duties during off hours & weekends

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• 3+ years of experience building, delivering and maintaining large scale applications that are launched in production
• Proficiency in backend programming languages (Java, Go and Type Script preferred)
• Experience in RESTful API development and maintenance
• Experience with cloud infrastructures (AWS and GCP preferred)
• Understanding of both relational and non‑relational databases
• Understanding of Object‑Oriented Programming paradigms and practices
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes containerization, and Git source control.
• Experience with software integration working with QA Automation.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with iOS or Android application development or services for Mobile applications is a plus.

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for British Columbia Based Applicants: $102,800 - $135,300 CAD (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full‑time and part‑time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Full Time Employee coverage is effective on the first day of employment. Part‑Time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
