Build Java services for Salesforce’s Kafka platform, applying distributed systems expertise across globally operated cloud environments.
The Software Engineering SMTS role supports internal engineering teams through resilient messaging infrastructure. You will design, develop, debug, and operate systems spanning thousands of compute nodes, while applying Kafka internals, Kubernetes, Terraform, and cloud infrastructure practices. The work includes production ownership, architectural communication, and open source contribution.
Key Responsibilities:- Design resilient distributed systems across multiple data centers
- Develop Java services and cloud infrastructure automation
- Build Infrastructure-as-Code workflows using Terraform
- Debug Kubernetes workloads and resolve complex technical issues
- Participate in on-call rotation and incident investigations
- Related technical degree
- Four or more years of backend software development
- Deep programming knowledge in Java, Golang, Python, or Ruby
- Kafka, Spinnaker, or Zookeeper experience
- Experience operating critical services and using Agile development
