Toromont Cat is looking for an Accounts Payable Associate to join our team! The Accounts Payable Associate is responsible for the day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable, statement reconciliations and other transactional issues. The Accounts Payable Associate must exercise discretion in executing essential functions to the business and be able to work independently, following through on assignments with minimal direction.

Review and verify invoices and their accompanying payment requests to ensure compliance to the company’s policies and procedures for such elements as: invoice requirements, proper authorization, monitoring discount opportunities, applicable matching of purchase order or contract, commodity tax compliance (e.g. GST, HST, QST and PST) and accuracy.Manages incomplete invoices in Sen Saas, send to the appropriate person using workflow, and following up on those outstanding invoices waiting for approvals.Resolve invoice exceptions related to PO and non-PO’s by using workflow approval reports and follow up with buyers and management, and identify areas for efficienciesVerify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and ensuring all accounts payable transactions are completed for timely preparation of month-end reportsResolve invoice exceptions related to PO and non-PO’s by using workflow approval reports and follow up with buyers and management, and identify areas for efficienciesMust-haves for this role:
2-4 years experienceUnderstanding of basic principles of finance, accounting and bookkeepingSuperb time management skills and detail orientation and accuracyCommodity tax compliance (i.e. verifying correct tax amounts on invoices)Ensuring company policy is followed in terms of financial transactionsAnalytical and problem solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills including effective collaboration skillsExperience with accounting software and online platformsAbility to maintain confidentiality of company and partner informationStrong mathematical skillsExperience in Accounts PayableRecommendations for process efficienciesChanges to vendor payment terms to meet business requirementsAbout Toromont Cat
