Role: Senior Integration Engineer
Client: Large Ontario Local Distribution Company (LDC)
Focus: Enterprise Integration, APIs, Data Pipelines
Contract Term: 6 – 12 months, renewable
Location: Hybrid: 3 Days Remote / 2 Days In‑office (Vaughan, Ontario)
Rate: Negotiable

We are in search of a Senior Integration Engineer / API Developer to help unlock the full potential of their data ecosystem.

As one of Ontario’s largest Local Distribution Companies (LDCs), our client operates and maintains a complex distribution network serving over 1M+ customers
. Reliable electricity delivery depends on accurate, timely data flowing across asset, GIS, outage, metering, and field systems.
This senior role designs and owns integration solutions that connect these systems – enabling efficient operations, faster outage response, trusted data, and regulatory confidence.
What You’ll Be Doing 🔌 Lead Distribution‑Focused API & Integration Design- Design, develop, and own enterprise‑grade RESTful APIs supporting LDC operational needs
- Integrate systems supporting:
- Distribution asset management & maintenance
- GIS network models (feeders, circuits, connectivity)
- Outage Management Systems (OMS)
- Field service & mobile workforce tools
- Establish integration standards for a 24/7 customer‑impacting environment
- Ensure security, resiliency, and performance of integrations
- Design and implement pipelines for operational, analytical, and regulatory use cases
- Support ingestion of data from:
- Asset & work management systems
- GIS & network models
- Outage & restoration events
- Smart meters / AMI & telemetry
- Implement data quality controls, monitoring, and reconciliation
- Enable analytics, reliability reporting, and asset performance insights
- Support integration of:
- Distribution assets (poles, wires, transformers, substations)
- Work orders, inspections, and crew activities
- Customer‑impacting outage events & restoration timelines
- Align asset systems of record with GIS network representations
- Reduce manual workarounds and improve trust in operational data
- Act as a technical authority for integration & API design
- Lead solution design discussions with internal teams and vendors
- Mentor intermediate engineers and review integration designs
- Translate operational & regulatory requirements into scalable technical solutions
- 8+ years in system integration, API development, and data engineering
- Proven experience supporting production integrations in operational environments
- Strong expertise in:
- RESTful APIs & enterprise integration patterns
- Data pipelines (batch & streaming)
- SQL & scripting (Python preferred)
- Hybrid or cloud‑enabled environments
- Experience with in an Ontario LDC or similar electricity distribution environment
- Familiarity integrating:
- Asset & Work Management (SAP, Maximo, etc.)
- GIS platforms (ESRI ArcGIS)
- OMS, AMI, or field service systems
- Understanding of IT/OT integration challenges and regulated utility operations
- Strong systems thinking and ownership mindset
- Ability to engage with operations, engineering, IT, and business stakeholders
- Clear documentation & communication skills
- Comfortable in complex, risk‑aware environments
- Middleware, iPaaS, or API gateway experience
- Cloud integration (Azure preferred)
- Exposure to Ontario utility regulatory reporting
- Experience supporting customer‑facing operational systems
- Distribution systems exchange data accurately & reliably
- Asset, GIS, OMS, and field data remain synchronized
- Manual reconciliation is eliminated
- Operations teams trust data during outages & restoration
