Therapy Assistant - Cortellucci Hospital
SE Health is hiring Therapy Assistants to work at Mackenzie Health Hospital, supporting therapists in providing services to patients. The role requires a team-oriented candidate who may be available for early evening hours as needed.
Position SummaryPart‑time contract ending September 2026. Alternating 3 shifts one week & 2 shifts another week at the Surge unit. The Therapy Assistant will practice under the guidance of a registered occupational therapist or physiotherapist.
Responsibilities- Assist the supervising physiotherapist and occupational therapist in performing various components of treatment plans for patients in the hospital setting.
- Execute treatments as prescribed, including gait training, balance exercises, transfer training, range of motion, strengthening, ADL retraining, and modalities such as heat, ice, TENS.
- Deliver dynamic, safe and therapeutic exercise classes for 1:1 interventions or patient groups.
- Set up equipment, prepare for sessions, and clean up after treatments.
- Maintain safety and tidiness of the therapy gym and treatment areas.
- Communicate regularly with supervising clinicians regarding patient status or treatment changes.
- Completed OTA/PTA Diploma.
- Minimum one year of inpatient experience (preferred).
- Knowledge of adaptive equipment, gait aids and wheelchairs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic, fast‑paced team.
- Proficient body mechanics for bending, reaching, lifting, transferring.
- BLS certification.
- Criminal background check, vulnerable sector check, current immunization record.

Pay range: $24.80–$27.00 per hour, based on experience.
