GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
Responsible for operating honing machines to hone internal or external surfaces of metal parts.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Setup machine as required by drawing specifications.
- Determine product dimensions, tooling, and to plan operational sequence by studying work orders, or machining instructions.
- Make changes to machine operation when necessary.
- Select tooling to be used in machine operation, utilizing knowledge of machine and production requirements.
- Thread and hand feed materials through machine cutters or abraders.
- Inspect or measure product through the use of measuring instruments to ensure conformance.
- Hone parts to prescribed dimensions.
- Follow the company Health and Safety Policy and practice safe working habits, industrial hygiene and good housekeeping around benches and machines.
- All other duties as assigned
DIMENSIONS:
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds required.
- Ability to setup honing equipment.
- Ability to read blue prints.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses and maintenance.
- Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
