Electrical and Mechanical Technician CA
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on production and facility equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Install and maintain motors, sensors, drives, conveyors, gearboxes, and automated equipment.
- Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, PLC interfaces, and motor testers.
- Follow GMP, HACCP, and other food safety protocols during all maintenance work.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Maintain proper documentation of maintenance activities using CMMS (e.g., UpKeep, SAP, or other platforms).
- Assist in equipment upgrades, installations, and continuous improvement projects.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns promptly and support production needs.
- Support cross-functional teams in maintaining high standards of equipment reliability and plant performance.
- Participate in safety meetings, training, and audits.
To perform this job successfully, the Electro-Mechanical Technician must be self-motivated, able to problem solve, detail-oriented, and able to stay on task. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate situations and use independent judgment and initiative in taking appropriate action.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt well to change.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently under pressure.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational certification or associate degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of EMT experience in a food manufacturing environment a plus
. - Strong understanding of food safety practices (GMP, HACCP, SQF, etc.).
- Proven ability to work with 3-phase systems, VFDs, PLC-controlled equipment, and mechanical assemblies.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with CMMS platforms.
- OSHA safety training or certification
- Familiarity with Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
- Lean Manufacturing or TPM experience
