Associate Buyer

Associate Buyer Freedom Outdoors | Virginia Beach, VA (On-site)
Pay: $50,000–$60,000 per year Freedom Outdoors is seeking an organized, analytical purchasing professional to join our Procurement team as an Associate Buyer.

Partnering directly with our Vice President of Procurement, the Associate Buyer manages day-to-day purchasing and replenishment across all Freedom Outdoors locations. The right person is comfortable working with data, making purchasing decisions, staying on top of the details, and bringing forward ideas to improve our assortment.

What You'll Do Replenishment & Inventory Own retail replenishment across all Freedom Outdoors locations, maintaining inventory at our established targets by SKU and store, questioning system recommendations that don't look right, and digging into the cause before recommending a fix.

Monitor in-stocks, overstocks, weeks of supply, and aged inventory by SKU, brand, and location.

Rebalance inventory between stores, including serialized firearm transfers between licensed locations.

Walk the store regularly to check stock levels firsthand, and restock product as needed.

Purchase Orders Create and manage purchase orders from placement through receipt; confirm orders with vendors; keep open orders accurate; and update stores on incoming product.

Set up new items and keep costs, UPCs, and vendor information accurate.

Manage customer special orders and support promotional buys and vendor programs.

Collaborate with sales, receiving, accounting, operations, and store teams to resolve purchasing and inventory discrepancies.

Vendors Serve as the day-to-day contact for manufacturers, distributors, and sales reps, including rep visits at our Virginia Beach store.

Track backorders, delays, shortages, and allocated product until orders are filled.

Hold vendors to agreed pricing, terms, and delivery dates.

Analysis & Improvement Use sales and inventory data to build reports and recommend what to add, increase, reduce, or discontinue.

Identify issues early and bring a recommended solution along with them.

Help test and roll out new inventory and point-of-sale systems as our tools evolve.

What We're Looking For2+ years of experience in purchasing, buying, replenishment, inventory management, or merchandising, including hands-on purchase order and vendor work.

Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and working with large data sets.

Comfortable learning new technology; retail ERP or POS experience is a plus.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Clear, professional written and verbal communication with vendors and teammates.

Firearm knowledge is preferred but not required. We can teach the product; strong purchasing judgment and follow-through matter more than industry background.

Must be able to pass a background check and legally handle firearms.

Work Schedule & Travel This is a full-time, salaried, on-site position based at our Virginia Beach store, with a typical Monday–Friday schedule. Expect periodic trips to each Freedom Outdoors location. On rare occasions, travel or weekend work may be needed for store events or inventory.

Physical Requirements Ability to move throughout the retail floor, stockroom, and range areas.

Ability to occasionally lift and move product weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
