A client within the Public Sector based in County is currently recruiting for a Building Control Surveyor to join their Building Control Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a Building Control / Planning Services environment.
The RoleThe key purpose of the role is to assist in ensuring that building regulation applications are processed in line with agreed targets and timescales, managing a portfolio of development sites, and ensuring compliance with building regulations and associated legislation. The role involves both plan appraisal and site inspections, supporting continuous development within the service, and contributing to high-quality, customer-focused building control delivery.
Keyresponsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Assessing building regulation applications, plans and technical drawings for compliance.
- Conducting site inspections for a range of building projects, including low to medium-risk schemes.
- Responding to dangerous structures, demolitions and unauthorised works.
- Providing technical advice to applicants, agents, and members of the public.
- Preparing statutory notices and contributing to enforcement action where required.
- Maintaining accurate records and supporting the ongoing implementation of Quality Management Systems (QMS).
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such is offering £40 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £30 per hour PAYE).
The CandidateTo be considered for this role you will require:
- Full membership of a relevant professional institute (e.g. RICS, CABE, CIOB).
- A relevant degree in Building Control or a surveying-based subject.
- Knowledge and experience of Building Regulations, the Building Act, and associated legislation.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
- Experience working within a local authority building control environment.
- Strong negotiation, communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to analyse complex technical issues and provide clear recommendations.
