An established and fast-growing national building consultancy is currently seeking a motivated Acoustic Consultant to join its expanding acoustics and environmental team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career consultant to develop their skills within a supportive, multi-disciplinary environment working on a wide range of high-profile projects.
The Opportunity
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality acoustic assessments across environmental, architectural and building acoustics projects. The role will involve a mix of site-based work, technical analysis, reporting, and client liaison, offering strong technical development and long-term career progression.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Duties
Undertake environmental noise and vibration surveys, including baseline and compliance monitoring.
Carry out acoustic modelling using industry-standard software (e.g. Cadna
A, Sound
PLAN, Odeon, Insul).
Prepare technical reports in line with relevant UK standards (BS 4142, BS 8233, BS 5228, ProPG, WHO, etc.).
Complete building and architectural acoustics assessments, including sound insulation design and internal noise criteria.
Develop noise mitigation strategies for planning, design and construction projects.
Manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring deadlines, budgets and technical quality are met.
Prepare fee proposals, quotations and project documentation.
Attend site visits, project meetings and provide clear, professional technical advice.
Candidate Requirements
Degree in Acoustics, Engineering, Physics, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
1-4 years’ experience within acoustic consultancy or relevant transferable experience.
Strong knowledge of UK acoustic standards and guidance.
Confident using sound level meters and monitoring equipment.
High standard of technical reporting with strong attention to detail.
Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel for site work.
