This is a senior, hands‑on technical leadership role where you’ll set direction, guide delivery and support a growing development team, while remaining close to the code and architecture.
The RoleAs Tech Lead, you’ll act as the technical authority across projects, combining strong engineering expertise with leadership and mentorship. You’ll work closely with the Head of Digital and wider delivery teams to ensure solutions are robust, scalable and commercially aligned.
This role suits someone who enjoys leading by example, shaping technical decisions and improving how development work is delivered, without stepping fully away from hands‑on problem solving.
What You’ll Be Doing- Acting as technical lead across multiple projects and clients
- Mentoring and supporting developers through code reviews, pairing and guidance
- Defining and maintaining coding standards, best practices and workflows
- Remaining hands‑on with complex builds where needed
- Influencing architecture, tooling, hosting and infrastructure decisions
- Collaborating with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Supporting the evolution of the agency’s technical capabilities and offerings
- Consistent, high‑quality technical delivery across projects
- A confident, well‑supported development team
- Improved development processes and documentation
- Successful delivery of more complex bespoke builds
- Clear technical direction aligned with business and client goals
- Proven experience in a Tech Lead or Senior Developer role
- Strong full‑stack development background
- Comfortable working across modern frontend and backend technologies
- (React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, PHP, Node.js)
- Experience mentoring or guiding developers in a commercial environment
- Confidence overseeing hosting environments and dedicated servers
- Solid understanding of Git, pipelines and standard development life cycles
- Strong communication skills, able to explain technical decisions clearly
- Experience with additional CMS platforms
- Performance optimisation or SEO knowledge
- Exposure to advanced frameworks or cloud‑based environments
- You don’t need to be an expert in everything, strong technical judgement, leadership and delivery mindset matter most.
