Apprentice Commissioning Support Officer

Contract Type: Fixed term (22 months)

Location: Civic Centre, Walsall

Grade: Apprentice (Training allowance in line with Walsall Council policy)

Wage:

  • 23 and over: £10.42 per hour
  • 21 to 22: £10.18 per hour
  • 18 to 20: £7.49 per hour
  • Under 18: £5.28 per hour

You’ll be working as an Apprentice Commissioning Support Officer in our Commissioning Team (Adult Social Care). This role is part of a structured apprenticeship programme where you will work towards a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard qualification.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Administrative support for commissioning projects and service reviews.
  • Data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Organising meetings, forums, and governance groups.
  • Communicating with internal teams and external providers.
  • Supporting quality assurance and contract management activities.
What We’re Looking For
  • Enthusiastic and eager to learn.
  • Organised and able to manage time effectively.
  • A good communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Committed to delivering excellent customer service.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Aged 16+, has the right to work in the UK, and not be enrolled in full‑time education.

You’ll need to have GCSEs (A‑C or 4‑9) in English and Maths, or be willing to work towards achieving Level 2 qualifications as part of the apprenticeship.
