Recruitment Services are seeking a Rough Sleeper Support Worker to work for our client based in Walsall.
The post holder will support vulnerable homeless adults.
Reducing repeat homelessness by supporting vulnerable adults, homeless people, former rough sleepers, offenders, and those with complex needs who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
The postholder will assist service users in developing, utilising, and enhancing both new and existing skills, knowledge, and confidence to break the cycle of homelessness, prevent its recurrence, and support sustained independent living.
The post holder should be committed to supporting vulnerable service users as needed and must have a valid driving licence with access to a vehicle for work use.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE :- Complete outreach throughout the Walsall borough to locate rough sleepers, and follow up on all referrals received by the team.
- To undertake holistic risk and needs assessments and to develop support and risk management plans.
- To support service users in enhancing their life skills by designing and implementing life and social skills programs within both individual and group work environments.
- To support and encourageservice usersto engage with learning skills and work.
- To support and encourageservice usersto develop positive family and other support networks.
- Toassistservice userstoidentifyand take up settled accommodation and to continue to provide ongoing support to them.
- To be available toservice usersfor regular support sessions and to respond to crisis.
- To take responsibility for safeguarding the welfare of service users.
- To promoteandfacilitatethe participation of service usersin their individual support plans and in the management of the service.
- Tofacilitateserviceusersaccessto andtake up of support services.
- Toensure benefit claims are made and maintained in ordertomaximise serviceusersincome.
- To organise andaccompanyservice usersto appointments as appropriate.
- Tomaintainaccuraterecords e.g. support plans, day to day records and outcomes.
- Knowledge of issues facedby vulnerableservice userssuch as substance misuse, mental health, offending, sexual exploitation (not exhaustive)
- Experience of working with service usersinvarious settings.
- Experience of supervising volunteers, students and or work experience
- Up to date knowledge of welfare rights,Debt and Housing Legislation
- Able to undertake holistic risk and needs assessments of vulnerable young people.
- Able to deal with challenging situations calmly and effectively, ensuring risks are reduced,assistancesoughtwhenrequiredand disruption is kept to a minimum.
- Must have a valid driving licence with access to a vehicle for work use
