Job Purpose

We’re looking for a proactive and collaborative Building Maintenance and Compliance Controller to join our team at United Utilities. This role is key to ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of approximately 7,800 buildings, offices, and depots. You’ll lead the planning and delivery of both planned and reactive maintenance, working closely with stakeholders to achieve business objectives and deliver real value.

Accountabilities

& Responsibilities

You’ll play a central role in shaping and delivering maintenance and compliance projects that make a difference.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop robust business cases with clear costs and benefits.
  • Manage approval processes and ensure compliance with governance standards.
  • Monitor and report on Capital and Opex budgets for maintenance and compliance.
  • Ensure accurate project setup and tracking with Project Controllers.
  • Produce timely reports and plans to support effective decision-making.
  • Own and resolve risks and issues, maintaining a clear audit trail.
  • Lead and motivate cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Technical Skills & Experience

We’re looking for someone who combines technical expertise with strong leadership and communication skills.

You’ll bring:

  • Degree-level education or 5+ years’ experience in a relevant discipline.
  • Proven experience in building maintenance and compliance planning and delivery.
  • Strong track record of successful project delivery and change management.
  • Excellent organisational and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
    Project Management qualification desirable.
