Warehouse Manager Warrington

Monday to Friday | 06:30 16:30 | 40 hours per week

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Warehouse Manager to lead operations within our busy Warrington depot. Ideally you will have experience from the hire, construction, engineering or logistics sectors.

As the Warehouse Manager you will take full ownership of depot operations, ensuring our customers receive industry‑leading service. This hands‑on leadership role oversees people, safety, stock, equipment availability and workflow efficiency. You will drive depot performance, maintain high operational standards and help shape a positive, customer‑focused culture.

Responsibilities Operational Responsibilities
  • Oversee all day‑to‑day warehouse and yard operations, ensuring equipment is prepared, maintained, stored and dispatched efficiently.
  • Coordinate workshop, transport and hire desk teams, ensuring seamless handovers and timely equipment availability.
  • Ensure equipment turnaround times are met, supporting servicing, testing, repairs and picking processes.
  • Manage stock and asset control, ensuring accuracy across warehouse systems and proactively resolving discrepancies.
  • Plan and prioritise workload, ensuring the depot can meet customer demand and operational peaks.
  • Lead site logistics, managing equipment flow, deliveries, collections and depot organisation.
  • Guarantee site cleanliness, structure and safety, maintaining a well‑organised, compliant and hazard‑free environment.
Leadership & Team Management
  • Manage, develop and motivate a diverse team, ensuring clarity of responsibilities and a strong performance culture.
  • Provide coaching and support to ensure staff are skilled, confident and customer‑focused.
  • Conduct performance reviews, training needs analysis and ongoing development planning.
  • Promote open communication and teamwork, ensuring the depot operates smoothly and efficiently.
Health & Safety
  • Champion and enforce Health & Safety standards, ensuring all colleagues follow safe systems of work.
  • Conduct regular safety checks, toolbox talks and risk assessments.
  • Ensure equipment and site compliance with Speedy policies, legal requirements and industry standards.
Customer & Service Delivery
  • Ensure every customer receives the right kit, at the right place, at the right time.
  • Support customer queries and escalations, working closely with the hire desk and sales teams.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with local customers, suppliers and internal partners.
  • Deliver service excellence that protects and strengthens Speedy’s reputation as the hire industry leader.
Commercial & Performance
  • Monitor depot performance, ensuring operational targets, quality KPIs and service standards are met.
  • Manage budgets and P&L awareness, controlling costs, improving efficiency and maximising productivity.
  • Identify opportunities to grow business performance, utilisation and customer satisfaction.
  • Support the wider business in delivering Speedy’s ESG Strategy Decade to Deliver, focusing on sustainable depot practices.
What You’ll Need
  • Proven experience managing a team within a warehouse, depot, logistics or engineering environment.
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet strict deadlines.
  • Knowledge and experience of Health & Safety practices at work.
  • Ability to understand and work with budgets and P&L information.
  • Confidence to take ownership, make decisions and lead by example.
  • Adaptability in a fast‑paced environment undergoing constant improvement.
  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office and warehouse systems).
  • General understanding of the construction industry and hire equipment (advantageous).
  • Previous experience within the hire industry (desirable).
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Commitment to supporting ESG and sustainable operational practices.
