Own the software that moves human capability forward. Based in Leeds with hybrid working, this Embedded Software Engineer role leads firmware for advanced prosthetics and internal tools. £60,000 £ 65,000 plus strong benefits, flexible onsite rhythm, and real authority to set standards across a regulated, high-impact product portfolio. Scope of the Role:
As Embedded Software Engineer, you will stabilise legacy code and shape future architecture across mechatronic devices. You'll partner with electronics, mechanical and manufacturing to deliver reliable control in real products. Own product firmware from concept to fielded release. Own internal tool software for test rigs and manufacturing. Define specifications, risk assessments and traceability. Lead source control, build and documentation standards.
Manage external partners and upskill colleagues. Key Skills and Experience
Required:
Proven delivery in mechatronic products as Embedded Software Engineer or Firmware Engineer. Real-time control with sensors, motors, peripherals and RTOS or bare metal; confident with lab equipment. Regulated discipline with documentation, change control, hazard thinking and release quality. Function ownership, clear trade-offs, strong communication to non software stakeholders. Version control leadership, CI and release governance beyond daily Git usage.
