The post is offered, based on 10 programmed activities (PA) as below:
Direct Clinical Care as part of the daytime ICU Consultant rota and the non-resident Anaesthetic Consultant on call.
The daytime ICU rota will incorporate 8 Intensivists and provides clinical cover over a two-week period. General Anaesthetic sessions are also incorporated into each individual job plan.
Direct clinical care includes all clinical and associated direct activity, e.g. pre- and post-operative care and communication. It is accepted that the content of different consultants' job plans will vary, but parity will be maintained by ensuring a balanced job plan for each consultant. This approach is taken to ensure a continuing and reasonable degree of flexibility both in terms of continuity of care and in facilitating cross-cover of sessions between consultants.
The actual content of programmed activities will be monitored periodically by use of a work diary at job plan review.
The ICU is actively involved in clinical research from time to time.
