Product Engineering at JLR is centred on innovation and creativity. From advanced driver assistance systems to developing the future of electric propulsion, the opportunities to create exceptional experiences for the future of motoring are wide-ranging. You'll work alongside industry experts to drive product strategy, manage programs, analyse performance, and lead transformation initiatives. Exceptional careers that bring world-renowned vehicles to life start here.

Join JLR as a Technical Manager – Motion Control Systems (ADAS).

Are you ready to shape the future of driving? We’re looking for a Technical Manager to lead innovation in Assisted and Automated Driving within our Motion Control Systems team. This is your chance to work at the forefront of technology, developing advanced control systems that deliver exceptional vehicle behaviour and pave the way towards full autonomy.

In this role, you’ll guide a multidisciplinary team responsible for creating next‑generation solutions for lateral and longitudinal motion control, bridging the gap between Vehicle Platforms and Digital Product Platforms. From ADAS Level 1 through to Level 4 autonomy, you’ll be driving projects that combine model‑based design, cutting‑edge software development, and visionary leadership.

WHAT TO EXPECT
  • Lead the full product lifecycle for a motion control system—from proof of concept through production launch and post‑release quality management—while managing a team of skilled engineers.
  • Drive complex, cross‑functional projects, bringing expertise in control system design, vehicle dynamics, simulation, and automation, with the ability to balance technical, business, and people considerations.
  • Operate at strategic, tactical, and technical levels, shaping product roadmaps, overseeing delivery, and refining development processes in line with JLR standards.
  • Collaborate globally with stakeholders across Chassis, ADAS, Powertrain, and other teams in the UK, EU, India, China, and the US to align roadmaps with JLR’s vision for best‑in‑class motion control.
  • Manage projects end‑to‑end, including resource planning, risk mitigation, and performance monitoring, while supporting team growth through coaching, mentoring, and tailored development plans.
  • Ensure quality and compliance of all engineering outputs—control models, software requirements, test cases, and tools—meeting global regulations, Functional Safety, and JLR’s internal standards.
  • Oversee integration of motion subsystems into vehicle electrical architecture, enabling ADAS features and delivering calibration and implementation of motion functions on prototypes and production vehicles.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
  • Safety‑Critical Expertise:
Proven experience with safety‑critical software and systems, ensuring compliance with standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or equivalent.
  • Engineering Development Lifecycle:
In‑depth knowledge and hands‑on delivery across all stages of the ‘V’ cycle, including system and software engineering principles, A‑SPICE framework, and model‑based development through to final software release.
  • Structured Problem Solving:
Skilled in investigating component and system‑level issues using methodologies such as Six Sigma, 5D, Is/Is Not, and Fault Tree Analysis, particularly within control engineering contexts.
  • Functional Safety & Cybersecurity:
Strong understanding of automotive safety and cybersecurity principles, processes, and standards.
  • Quality & Robustness Engineering:
Familiarity with assurance techniques and tools such as FMEA, P‑Diagrams, noise factor analysis, and supporting data‑driven methods.
  • Domain Knowledge:
Automotive or aerospace experience in control domains, including flight and drive control, chassis systems, vehicle dynamics, and lateral/longitudinal motion control.
  • Leadership & Strategic Planning:
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop technical teams, balancing short‑term delivery with medium‑term planning to meet quality standards, process metrics, and business…
