Senior Underwriter – Specialist Property Finance
A fast-growing, well-capitalised specialist property lender is looking to appoint a Senior Underwriter to join its expanding underwriting team.
Location :Hertfordshire (office-based)
This is a high-impact role within a business that combines the agility of a private lender with the discipline of institutional-grade underwriting. The company operates across bridging, specialist and commercial property finance, funding a wide range of complex and time-sensitive transactions.
If you enjoy autonomy, fast turnaround deals and working closely with brokers, this is a standout opportunity.
The roleYou will take full ownership of deals from application through to completion, acting as the key decision-maker while delivering an exceptional service to brokers, solicitors and valuers.
Key Responsibilities- Underwriting new bridging and specialist finance cases from start to finish
- Assessing risk throughout the life of each case and making commercially sound decisions
- Working closely with brokers, solicitors and valuers to progress transactions
- Requesting and managing funding for cases approaching completion
- Keeping internal teams updated on pipeline and case progress
- Continuously reviewing underwriting processes to improve efficiency and quality
- Managing deadlines, workflow and personal KPIs
- Contributing to the ongoing evolution of policy and risk framework
There is also scope for this role to grow into a leadership position, supporting or managing junior underwriters as the business continues to scale.
About youYou will already be working in bridging or specialist property finance underwriting and enjoy making decisions in a fast-paced, commercial environment.
You will bring- Minimum 2 years’ experience underwriting bridging or specialist property finance
- Strong knowledge of risk, security, LTVs and deal structuring
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Confidence working directly with brokers and professional partners
- Strong organisation, attention to detail and time management
- Understanding of mortgage and regulatory requirements
- CeMAP qualification (preferred but not essential)
