• As Buying Manager you will develop and lead a small team to manage the sourcing strategy for a key range of food own brand products working with existing suppliers and sourcing new suppliers.
• The Buying Manager will lead, develop and support a small team of buyers to negotiate cost price increases and to develop and implement a plan to reduce cost of good to ensure margin targets are achieved.
• In the role the Buying Manager will work collaboratively with suppliers on range and NPD opportunities ensuring that sustainable sources of supply are always achieved.
• Using data and insights and working with internal and external stakeholders you will develop the strategic plan that will deliver long term growth.
• The Buying Manager will have a strong understanding of cost drivers and the context of commodity influences and market dynamics.
• This Buying Manager role is ideal for a commercial individual who has food buying experience gained from UK food retail or wholesale. You will have had direct line management experience for minimum 2 direct reports.
• It is essential to be able to demonstrate hands on buying or commercial experience gained from the UK food industry and have negotiated directly with suppliers demonstrating different tactics and styles.
• In addition, you will demonstrate a passion for the customer, product and a flair for commerciality.
• Leading a team you must have excellent experience of proactively managing all aspects of performance and development.
• You be an excellent relationship builder and you will be able to communicate and influence with internal and external stakeholders.
• As Buying Manager you must have good insight and data analysis skills and be able to formulate strategy and action opportunities to drive profit.
• You will have excellent planning and organization skills and will be able to work independently on your own initiative, a self-starter with can-do attitude.

• Excellent package – up to £70,000 plus car allowance, bonus and benefits.
