We are supporting a well-established, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy with the appointment of an Associate or Lead level Structural Engineer. This is a senior, hands‑on role suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys combining technical leadership with project delivery and team development.
You will be involved in a varied portfolio of projects across the built environment, including residential, commercial, logistics and technology‑led developments. The role offers genuine influence over design decisions, project outcomes and the progression of junior engineers.
The RoleAs an Associate / Lead Structural Engineer, you will take responsibility for the technical, commercial and day‑to‑day delivery of structural engineering projects.
Key responsibilities- Leading structural engineering projects from concept through to delivery
- Managing programme, resources and technical outputs to time and budget
- Undertaking and reviewing structural designs from first principles
- Producing and overseeing calculations, reports, drawings and specifications
- Providing technical leadership, mentoring and on-the‑job training to junior engineers
Monitoring project milestones and identifying risks or deviations - Ensuring Quality Assurance and Quality Control prior to issue
- Liaising with clients, consultants, contractors and approving authorities
- Maintaining awareness of scope, appointments and fee arrangements
- Supporting wider practice management responsibilities as agreed
This opportunity would suit an experienced Senior Structural Engineer already operating at Associate or Lead level, or someone ready to step up into a more senior position.
You are likely to have- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
- Strong experience delivering structural engineering design for building projects
- Proven ability to lead projects and manage junior engineers
- Excellent understanding of structural design from first principles
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and Tekla (or similar software)
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of project fees and scope
- Clear and confident communication skills with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with MIStruct
E or MICE, or demonstrable progression toward Chartership
- Salary of £70,000 to £80,000 depending on experience
