Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Position: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Permanent)
Location: Sandwell

A global manufacturer based in the West Midlands is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. This is a full-time, on-site position where you'll take ownership of mechanical design projects, contribute electrical knowledge, and play a key role in developing future engineering leaders.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will include:

Designing and developing sheet metal components for manufacturing applications.
Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support production workflows.
Producing detailed CAD models and technical drawings (CREO preferred, but open to other CAD software).
Designing wiring looms and harnesses to integrate electrical systems into mechanical designs.
Collaborating with production and quality teams to ensure designs meet performance and compliance standards.
Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes.

Requirements for the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer:

Proven experience in mechanical design engineering within a manufacturing environment.
Strong background in sheet metal design and BOM management.
Electrical engineering knowledge with hands-on experience in wiring loom and harness design
Proficiency in CAD software (CREO experience advantageous, but not essential).
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work on-site full-time in the West Midlands.

Experience of mentoring others as this role has the potential to grow into a team leadership role.
Background in HVAC, refrigeration, or chiller systems would be beneficial but not essential.
