Sandwell Council has established and continues to develop tenant engagement and the opportunities to shape Housing Services, all of which is aligned to the council’s strategic objectives, as well as the Consumer Standards and Social Housing White Paper.
We are looking for a Tenant Engagement Officer to assist tenants to bring about social change and improve the quality of life in their local area, conducting community development work to actively engage communities in making sense of the issues which affect their lives, setting goals for improvement and responding to problems and needs through empowerment and active participation. You will be instrumental in implementing all aspects of the Tenant Engagement Strategy and share our passion for improving the lives of our tenants.
You will need to be skilled in tenant engagement, be able to develop meaningful tenant engagement and involvement within Housing Services, considering different approaches required to engage different tenant groups. Working with tenants and tenant groups in order that the needs and aspirations of tenants can feed into service design, working towards co-production.
You will need to possess excellent communication, interpersonal, IT, organisational and written skills and have a good understanding of responding to the needs of tenants.
You will need to be an enthusiastic person with the ability to empower and motivate others with a ‘can do’ approach.
You must be a strong team player, an excellent communicator and demonstrate a commitment to positively responding to the challenges faced when working in a public‑sector organisation.
