Somerset | Hybrid (2–3 Days Office-Based) | Up to £55,000

A growing and well-established infrastructure and utilities engineering provider is looking for a skilled Civil Design Engineer to join its multidisciplinary design and project coordination team. The company specialises in delivering grid connections, substations, renewable energy schemes and wider utility infrastructure, offering exposure to a wide range of technically interesting and future-focused projects.

This is an ideal opportunity for a Civil Design Engineer who enjoys hands-on design work while also coordinating closely with multiple engineering departments.

Role Overview

You will contribute to the civil design of infrastructure projects from concept through to construction, working closely with electrical, civils, design and project delivery teams. Your work will directly support the development of grid connection sites, renewable energy assets, and associated civil engineering infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

* Produce detailed civil engineering designs, drawings and 3D models

* Support design work on foundations, drainage, access roads, earthworks, platforms, cable trenches and utility infrastructure

* Coordinate information across internal departments to ensure consistent and accurate design outputs

* Review, update and check design packages to maintain technical quality

* Collaborate with project managers on design deliverables, timelines and technical queries

* Attend internal design reviews and provide clear technical input

* Contribute to improving design processes and engineering standards

Essential Skills & Experience

* Proven experience as a Civil Design Engineer within utilities, energy, infrastructure or construction sectors

* Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit and Navisworks

* Excellent communication and coordination skills, essential for multi-disciplinary teamwork

* Solid understanding of core civil engineering design principles (earthworks, drainage, levels, foundations etc.)

* Ability to manage multiple design tasks in a dynamic project environment

* Proactive, organised and detail-focused approach to problem solving
