Job Title:Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist – Weston General Hospital
Banding: Band 6
Location: Weston General Hospital (with potential shifts at BRI)
Start Date: ASAP
Rate: £24.00 – £27.00 per hour
Working Hours: Ideally full-time (37.5 hours/week), but part-time considered
We are currently seeking a skilled and autonomous Band 6 Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist to join an inpatient team at Weston General Hospital
. This role focuses on supporting adult patients with communication and swallowing difficulties associated with a wide range of medical, neurological, and age‑related conditions.
The ideal candidate will be dysphagia competent and confident in independently a dysphagia caseload within a busy acute hospital setting. While the primary location is Weston General Hospital, there may be opportunities to support the team at BRI (Bristol Royal Infirmary) depending on service demand.
This is a valuable opportunity for an experienced therapist to work within a multidisciplinary environment and make a meaningful impact on patient recovery and quality of life.
Key ResponsibilitiesIndependently assess and manage adult inpatients with communication and swallowing disorders, including complex dysphagia cases.
Provide timely and effective speech and language therapy interventions across a range of acute medical conditions.
Collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic and coordinated patient care.
Contribute to discharge planning and ongoing therapy recommendations.
Maintain accurate, professional clinical documentation in accordance with trust and HCPC standards.
Qualifications and ExperienceTo be considered for this role, you must have:
A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
HCPC registration and eligibility for RCSLT membership.
Proven experience working with adult acute inpatients, including managing a dysphagia caseload.
Dysphagia competencies (must be able to work independently).
Strong communication and clinical reasoning skills.
