A precision engineering manufacturer is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Worker to support the fabrication of high-quality components for the aerospace sector. The role involves manual sheet metal work across a range of metals, working to tight tolerances and ensuring all parts meet required specifications and quality standards.
Shift & Pay- Shift Pattern:
- Monday-Thursday: 7:30am-4:30pm
- Friday: 7:30am-12:30pm
- Overtime:
Available, including Saturday mornings at 1.5x - Work Type:
Day shift
Production
- Meet daily output targets in line with work schedules.
- Interpret engineering planning documents, drawings, and SOPs.
- Ensure equipment is suitable for use and report issues before starting work.
- Confirm all prior job card operations are signed/stamped before commencing tasks.
- Clock on and off jobs accurately.
- Carry out sheet metal fabrication using cutting, folding, forming and other manual techniques.
- Working towards Tight Tolerances:
Typically ±0.25mm - Work with various metals to fabricate aerospace components.
- Clean, finish and prepare parts before progressing to the next stage.
- Complete all operational documentation accurately.
Quality
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area.
- Ensure all fabricated parts meet drawing and specification requirements.
- Report non-conforming parts using NCR procedures.
Health & Safety
- Follow all safety procedures and promote safe working at all times.
- Adhere to PPE requirements.
Collaboration & Communication
- Liaise with other departments to ensure smooth workflow.
- Train and support colleagues when required.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Escalate issues to line management as appropriate.
- Participate in team meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
Additional Duties
- Undertake any other reasonable tasks required by the business.
Essential
- Full, unrestricted right to work in the UK.
- Time-served apprenticeship or HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Ideally 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Ability to interpret engineering documents and use appropriate equipment to meet customer specifications.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build positive working relationships.
- Professional, proactive approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Flexible and willing to work overtime or travel to other sites if required.
- Team-focused, supportive and committed to maintaining high standards.
